Our Schoolhouse

Our schoolhouse is nestled into the forest in a thoughtfully renovated cottage. Inspired by the charm of our favorite storybooks, it has ample natural light, a nod to the natural world throughout, and includes a full kitchen (with laundry) and bathroom, all showcasing a growing collection of lovingly curated and handmade touches.

There are two main rooms inside: a playspace for small-world building, dramatic play, blocks and loose parts, tracks and vehicles, as well as an art studio for creative expression of all kinds, sensory and light exploration, and a cozy library corner.

Disclaimer: There is a large set of stairs to enter the schoolhouse.

Nature Spaces

While our schoolhouse is a separate cottage situated on a shared family property, there are several outdoor areas for children to play and learn.

Our playgarden includes a mud kitchen, painting easels, a large collection of loose parts, a climbing dome, and raised-bed gardens. Our forested area has newly designed trails to explore that lead to our schoolhouse and other fun little nooks. The schoolhouse’s back deck will also serve as an outdoor classroom, where many of our usual daily activities can be enjoyed under the trees—especially the more exciting and messy ones!

A Note About the Property: The property is a work in progress, always undergoing transformation as it is also a family home. We ask that you offer grace to the homeowners as they work to build their own garden dreams, as well as those of the learners at Nurture House. The dedicated children’s spaces are all growing toward their full potential, and we need the learners’ imaginations to help show us how they can best be used.
